What is eDesign?

What exactly is eDesign? How does it work?

I am asked this question often, so I want to go in depth on all the

ins and outs on eDesign.

So, what IS it?

Not to be dramatic, but eDesign is today's answer to Interior Design. So much happens online these days, why should Interior Design be any different?

With SK Designs' eDesign packages, we don't ever have to step inside your home.*

With eDesign, we will not deliver furniture or arrange your shelves. We present a custom design to you without ever being in the same room together.

The information we gather from you in phone calls, emails, questionnaires and/or Zoom meetings allow us to create a virtual copy of your room. This is a flat fee service that caters to our budget conscious clients. I will talk price in a sec, but first let's talk about how exactly this works.

*If you are in the Houston area, there is an add-on to include an In-Home Consultation and an Installation Day Work Hours for eDesign Packages.

Is this right for you?

It might feel weird or like you're missing out on the design process if you choose an eDesign package over a Full-Service package. You might feel that no one is there to place your items in the right spot so your home will not look finished or complete. Actually, the opposite is true.

At SK Designs, we love our eDesign projects because not only are we providing a custom design experience, but we are also teaching our clients how to do this on their own! Our clients in turn feel more confident to be able to tackle their own projects in the future, knowing that our help is only a phone call away.

The most obvious benefit of eDesign, however, is cost.

At SK Designs, our Full-Service projects start at $2,000. That includes all sourcing, procurement, designing, revisions, communication, installation and much more. Is that worth it? You bet. Is it a reality for everyone? Not necessarily. With eDesign, you can set the budget lower.

This does not mean that you are getting a lesser quality design. It just means that you're not paying for the busy work.

And since you're not paying for the busy work, you're paying substantially less.

What is SK Designs' eDesign process? How does it work?

It works pretty darn well; you just have to be willing to put in some work.

Here's the process from beginning to end:

  1. Design Questionnaire. After you send an email inquiry, I will send you a detailed design questionnaire and we then set up a time to talk on the phone or meet virtually.

  2. Initial Consultation. We talk on the phone (or via Zoom) and we go over your questionnaire. We will discuss your budget further and your needs for the space.

  3. Invoice/Follow up. SK Designs will send you an invoice for eDesign package. You will also receive an email requesting detailed pictures and detailed measurements of your space.

  4. Design Concept. Upon payment, SK Designs will begin on a Design Concept. Depending on your package selection, you will receive 1-3 Design Concepts. You receive these within 2-3 days. Once you approve a concept, we move on.

  5. Room Design/Sourcing/Space Planning. SK Designs will begin to source furniture and accessories based on your budget, style and available space in your room. This process takes about 2 weeks.

  6. Final Presentation. Once all items have been sourced, we will "meet" again, and you will be presented with your final design. You will receive a full list of shopping links for your items so that you can purchase them on your own. You will receive notes, tips and installation instructions. SK Designs will also provide paint color suggestions, if needed. Once your items are received, SK Designs is available via call, text or email to answer any questions.

Beginning to end, the eDesign process should take about 3 weeks.
